OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAs I write this, I’m sitting alone in a comfortable hotel room in Orlando, Florida. I am attending a 4 day event called “Be the Change”. It’s a business building and networking event. I love coming to events. I get to meet people from all over the world. I get to hang out with other powerful, mission driven, heart-centered entrepreneurs, who are making great money doing what they love (or at least on their way to doing that) 🙂

I am a self confessed event junkie. As a ‘solo-preneur’ who works from home, I work with most of my clients over the phone or skype. I love it! It allows me to work with people all over the world. There is no substitute for connecting in person though. (That’s why I run retreats several times a year and attend events like these!)

Yesterday, as I was preparing to travel here, I became aware of feeling excited that I would have my hotel room all to myself! I realized that the last 6 events I went to, I had a roommate. Don’t get me wrong, I loved having the company and sharing the experience with someone else. However, this time I was looking forward to having space and time – for me. I realize how much more comfortable I am with myself. Genuinely enjoying my own company. I think a huge part of it is because I am so much kinder to myself, especially in my mind. I have given up ‘making myself wrong’, which means I don’t judge and criticize myself (as much). There is so much more peace in my mind! I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Today, I am basking in the difference inside myself. I used to feel so self conscious and anxious (mixed with the excitement) coming to events like these . I would worry that that I wouldn’t connect with anyone or that no one would notice me. And as someone once said “Worrying is like praying for what you DON’T want!”. 🙂 It was stressful and played out subconsciously with me being inauthentically bubbly, trying to ‘impress’ people. It was so cool to walk in last night and feel an unprecedented level of comfort and ease inside myself. Someone even commented how relaxed I looked and wanted to know if it was because I was drinking! lol!

I always say to my clients: “Clarity is something you have to live into”. You see as we live, have experiences, repeat experiences, we get to see our own growth and progress. We get to see where we are now, compared to where we’ve been. It is only in having a situation to respond to, that we can see that we now respond differently than we used to!

As I came up to my room last night, feeling joyful and peaceful, I found myself looking forward to taking this journey and hanging out with my new best friend – ME!
